DO YOU CHARGE HOURLY?
No, we are fee based. Fees are determined during, or just after the initial consultation. Our fixed fees allow our clients to be aware of the charges before hiring us on retainer, rather than receiving hourly invoices throughout the project.
WHAT IF I ADD NEW THINGS TO MY PROJECT AFTER HIRING VSD?
No problem! New areas of design will be a separate fee according to the amount of additional work.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT THE INITIAL CONSULTATION?
Two of our design team members will get to know you, the project scope, and budget. We will suggest ideas based on your needs and our expert design experience. For renovations we can provide rough estimates for construction costs items. We have over 30 years of experience in construction and renovation which enables us to estimate things like removing walls and relocating and/or adding plumbing and electrical fixtures. This can be helpful in determining the best design for your style and budget.
CAN I GET DESIGN SERVICE FOR MY REMODEL AND LET MY CONTRACTOR PURCHASE ALL OF THE FIXTURES, TILE, AND LIGHTING?
Yes, we can provide only specifications for your remodel. In this case we are not responsible for pricing changes, purchasing, tracking, or arrival of damaged or incorrect items. A specifications package places full responsibility for quantity counts and receiving on the purchaser.
CAN I GET DESIGN SERVICES FOR MY NEW BUILD AND HAVE THE BUILDER PURCHASE ALL OF THE FIXTURES, TILE, AND LIGHTING?
Yes, we can provide specifications only for your new build. In this case we are not responsible for pricing changes, purchasing, tracking, or arrival of damaged or incorrect items. A specifications package places full responsibilty for quantity counts and receiving on the builder.
DO YOU HAVE PROJECT MINIMUM FEES?
Our team works on projects with an overall budget of $50k+. Our minimum Design fee is $7k.
DOES WORKING WITH VSD COST MORE THAN HANDLING THIS ON MY OWN?
This depends on several things; How much is your time worth? Will construction delays cost you money? Additionally, we source from vendors that provide superior quality products and service. For example, did you know that the same brand of plumbing fixture you find at a national home improvement store might have different parts? The fixture you find at a home improvement store might have plastic components while the same fixture purchased from a plumbing distributor will have brass components.
HOW LONG WILL MY PROJECT TAKE?
This depends on the scope and if construction involved. Typically, we provide a complete design within a timeframe ranging from 2 weeks to 10 weeks. Our design service does not directly correspond to the renovation or construction schedule.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE AN INITIAL CONSULTATION FOR A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT?
As soon as possible! Many times we provide the complete design before our clients get bids from potential contractors or builders. This insures accurate bids which are not subject to interpretation by different builders and contractors.
WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW MY BUDGET?
No problem! We will use our expertise to discuss options for the improvements you want at different price points during our initial consultation. For large jobs involving construction, we offer an Exploratory Service for a more thorough estimate.
